“Hey, I hear you’re starting a church”

Almost everyone I talk to starts out; “Hey, I hear you’re starting a church”. In my mind Church is not a destination nor is it a marketing tool as some are today. I think of “the church” as something started 2000 years ago which spreads across many continents, started by Jesus Himself, something I am not worthy of nor able to duplicate on my own.

My Bible refers to the Church as a group of people who follow Jesus and is also called the body of Christ. Our mission is to take the seed we have been given and plant it in fertile ground. Then His Spirit will cause it to grow.

Matthew 13:8, Mark 16:15 & Matthew 28:19,20. This holds true in everything from salvation to our personal ministry efforts. We plant, the Spirit gives growth or life and then the harvest.

My reply is this; “There are already too many churches, what we are planning is organizing groups of people, teaching biblical precepts, providing a worship environment while modeling and guiding others toward living as followers of Jesus Christ”.

Acts 2:47 “And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

Far to many church groups have lost sight of the spark that established them. Revelations 2:4. By definition remnant is the perfect name for this group I have been describing.  Those who are faithful to God’s original truth despite apostasy and opposition. This remnant is talked of or referred to throughout the Bible.

Opposition can come in many ways. It changes as the seasons do. To keep from conforming to the world the remnant must draw closer to the Word and His Spirit and be transformed as the Bible states in Romans 12:2.

At this point in planning we are looking for a suitable meeting place to rent, asking the body of Christ for prayers and taking applications for the Remnant Ministry Team.

Our planting harvest date is sometime mid 2019. Until then we plan on meeting every other week to plan and to pray.  I have a deep appreciation of God’s forgiveness and mercy. I pray you may know Him as I do.  Micah 7:18,19.

“Take the teachings that you heard me proclaim in the presence of many witnesses, and entrust them to reliable people, who will be able to teach others also.” ~ Apostle Paul

I am looking forward to sharing with you the vision we have been given. You have the spark that can ignite God’s plan for your life. Until then, greetings and blessings to the church that meets at your house. Romans 16:5
